Handmade Hand Woven Double-Breasted 4-Pocket Fully Silk Lined Jacket
This super limited edition RSWJ04 handmade jacket design is one of only 6 pieces of its kind made by hand in the world. Of these, just 1 piece was created for all of the United States and North America exclusively for Cruvoir in Los Angeles. The design was created specially for the SS2016 “Examen Reginae” collection.
It was created from Geoffrey B. Small's modified 19th century original double-breasted 4-pocket fully lined jacket pattern from extensive tailoring research. Individually cut by hand using exclusive handwoven pure cotton fabric woven for Geoffrey by the Colombo family at Tessitura Colombina in Badoere di Morgano, Treviso where it takes 3 days working on one of the original 18th century looms carefully kept and maintained for generations to make enough cloth just to make a single jacket. It was then fully-lined with luxury pure silk raso satin from Como Italy the world’s leading fine silk production region, then each specially double hand dyed in Cavarzere studios with a painstaking process which takes over 2 full days to get the yarns to go dark enough and hit the amazing patina and softness that was finally achieved. The special piece features entirely hand sewn pockets and vintage antique pure linen Venetian lace and trim details all around jacket fronts-sleeves-pockets, hand sewn interior hems on bodies and sleeves, and exquisite interior metal chains made exclusively for Geoffrey in Padova attached to the bodice hemlines all by extreme skill handwork, and signature hand-stitched buttonholes (each one requires 8-10 minutes to cut and sew) in luxurious pure silk Bozzolo Reale Milano Seta thread.
The special piece is hand signed and numbered by the designer. Variations in color and color density, as well as various yarn and weave disparities, are not imperfections or irregularities, but specific characteristics of the special fabric, and hand making technique.
